A Roanoke branch crew used the Grove 550-ton crane to assist in the removal of Liberty University’s replica Liberty Bell from its 275’ tall Freedom Tower. The iconic bell will be displayed at the new Jerry Falwell Welcome Center in Lynchburg, scheduled to open in the spring of 2023. Thirty inches in diameter, the Liberty Bell weighs approximately 3,000 pounds and was suspended 20 feet above the last floor of the tower before it was moved.
